800 m above sea level - every snow lover will find something to do here. As soon as the first snowflakes fall, the Altenberg recreation area becomes a winter paradise.

Popular activities such as cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and tobogganing come to the fore again. The slopes in Altenberg, Geising, Rehefeld and Schellerhau attract skiers until the evening hours.

Before the sun rises, the snowmobiles set off to prepare a network of more than 80 km of cross-country and ski mountaineering trails. Our cross-country skiing, skiing and winter hiking trails lead idyllically through snow-covered forests, along trails and footpaths past many places of interest.

You can enjoy ice skating with the whole family at the "Gründelstadion" ice rink. You can also try curling. In the Sparkasse biathlon arena you can hit the ground running and try your hand at biathlon.
